In Westland Survival, eliminating bandits increases their anger level. The more bandits you defeat across different locations, the closer you get to triggering a retaliation raid. This is how the Bandits’ Anger mechanic works.
How the Raid Works
Every time you kill bandits in any game location, you increase their anger level. The current progress can be tracked using the meter located next to the mini-map.
Once it reaches its maximum, you will receive a notification informing you that your Ranch will be attacked in a few hours.
When the timer runs out, bandits will come to your Ranch. To defend your home, you must be present at the Ranch when the attack happens.
You do not need to be online at the exact moment of the raid. Simply leave your character at the Ranch in advance. Whenever you log back into the game, even if the bandits have already reached your Ranch, you will still be able to fight off the attackers.
What Happens During a Bandit Raid
During a raid, bandits will try to reach your chests and storage. If they manage to break a chest or storage unit, they will take the items stored inside. After that, the bandit will attempt to escape from your Ranch with the stolen goods.
How to Take Revenge and Recover Stolen Items
The gang is always led by a Leader. If you defeat the Leader during the raid, make sure to loot the body and take the Bandits' Stash Map. If the Leader manages to escape, you will be able to purchase the map for Silver Coins from the raid results screen after the attack ends.
When used, the Bandits' Stash Map unlocks a temporary location called Bandits' Stash. This location is lightly guarded and contains valuable loot. You can usually find a set of gear, a couple of weapons, and various resources there.
Some of the items stolen from your Ranch may also be found in the Bandits' Stash. However, it is usually not possible to recover everything that was taken. That is why it is important to prepare seriously for bandit raids and prevent them from stealing your belongings in the first place.
The location is available on the map for a limited time, so once you use the map, it is recommended to visit it as soon as possible. When the timer expires, the Bandits' Stash will disappear from the World Map.
What Determines the Strength of Bandit Attacks
The strength of attacking bandits scales based on your character’s power and the level of development of your Ranch. It also depends on the number of successful defenses, gradually increasing over time.
If you fail to defend a raid and the bandits manage to steal items, their strength slightly decreases in future attacks. This system helps balance the raids so their difficulty does not increase indefinitely.
How to Avoid a Bandit Raid
There are two ways to prevent or significantly weaken a bandit raid.
When the Bandits’ Anger meter is full and the bandits are on their way to your Ranch, you can pay them off using Silver Coins. To do this, tap on their current location on the World Map, and you will see the corresponding option.
If your character is already at the Ranch, Silver Coins can instead be used to skip the waiting timer and start the raid immediately. However, this does not cancel the raid or pay off the bandits.
The second option is activating Super VIP status. If your character has an active Super VIP status, a guard named Colt Dutton will appear at your Ranch during a raid. He does not eliminate bandits instantly, but he deals significant damage to them, greatly reducing the chance of your items being stolen.
Ranch Defense Tips and Recommendations
— To gain more time before bandits reach your storage, build and upgrade walls, as well as defensive structures such as Sandbags and Stakes. Some players even create full maze-like layouts on their Ranch to slow down raiders. You can develop your own building strategy or ask experienced players in the Discord community for advice: Westland Survival Official.
— It is recommended to hide your most valuable items in the hardest-to-reach areas. Bandits do not know where your best loot is stored, so they will simply take items from the first chest or storage they manage to break.
— Many players choose not to wait for the full 6-hour timer. Instead, they prepare in advance, log out, and defend their Ranch the next day. To be fully prepared, make sure you have strong gear and reliable weapons ready. If raids become more difficult, consider bringing extra gear sets so your equipment does not break in the middle of the fight.
— Firearms are strongly recommended, as bandits have increased resistance to melee weapons and bows but are more vulnerable to firearms.
— Equip your character with a sufficient number of healing items, such as ointments or any other available medical supplies.
— It is also important to carry some food and water in your inventory. If you log into the game the next day and your character is hungry or thirsty, you will not have time to search for supplies during the attack. In addition, food and drinks can enhance your character with temporary bonuses.
