Overview

Breeding horses is an exciting feature that allows you to expand your equine collection and obtain rare and valuable offspring.

The breeding system includes multiple interconnected parameters:

— Types
— Breeds
— Coat colors
— Tiers
— Rarity
— Fertility

Understanding how these elements interact will help you achieve better breeding results.

Basic Breeding Rules

Types

— Riding and Draft horses cannot be crossbred.
— Only horses of the same Type can be bred together.

Gender Requirement

— Breeding requires two horses of opposite genders.

Breeds

— You can breed horses of the same or different Breeds.
— Do not confuse Breed with Type. Type refers to Riding or Draft horses.
— If the parents belong to different Breeds, the foal will inherit either the mother’s or the father’s Breed.

Coat Color

— The foal most often inherits the coat color of one of its parents.
— There is also a chance for the foal to receive another coat color available within the selected Breed.
— Coat color is not tied to a specific Tier or Rarity.

Tiers and Rarity

— Breeding horses of the same Tier and Rarity increases the chance of obtaining a foal of equal or higher quality.
— The foal’s Tier and Rarity may remain the same as the parents.
— In some cases, the Tier or Rarity may decrease.

Requirements for Breeding

Food

— Breeding is only successful if food is present in the feeder.

Stable

— A Level 2 Stable is required for breeding, as you need space for two parent horses and one free slot for the foal. A Level 2 Stable allows you to keep up to 4 horses, which meets this requirement.
— Further Stable upgrades increase the number of available horse slots, allowing you to expand and manage a larger breeding stock.

Foals

— A foal’s final Tier, Rarity, and attributes are revealed only after it reaches adulthood.
— Food must be placed in the feeding trough for the foal to grow.
— Foals cannot travel across the global map.
— Foals cannot be given to Arabella.

Fertility

— Each horse has a Fertility parameter that determines how many times it can participate in breeding.
— All newly acquired or bred horses always have Fertility greater than zero.
— Fertility can be restored using a special item called the Equine Elixir. The Equine Elixir restores 2 Fertility points per use. This item is rare and can be obtained in the in-game Store, during special events, and in Tracks.

Perk “Strong Genes”

Some horses have the Strong Genes perk. If at least one parent has this perk:

— The foal will inherit that parent’s coat color with a 100% chance.
— The foal will inherit the tier and rarity of the most powerful parent.

Important Exception

There is one exception to this rule.

Breeding has a small chance to increase the foal’s tier. If the foal moves to a higher tier than its parents, the rarity will not be inherited, even if one of the parents has the Strong Genes perk.

When a foal moves to a new tier, its rarity starts from the beginning of that tier’s progression.

Example

If you breed two Rare Tier 4 horses and the foal upgrades to Tier 5, the foal will be Tier 5 Common, not Rare.

Why does this happen?

Horse progression works according to an internal step system. You can imagine that each rarity inside a tier has its own step:

Common — Step 1
Uncommon — Step 2
Rare — Step 3
Epic — Step 4

If breeding increases the foal beyond the highest step of its current tier, it moves to the next tier. In this case, the foal receives Step 5, which actually means Step 1 of the new tier — Common rarity in that tier.

A foal cannot jump multiple steps at once to gain both a higher tier and a higher rarity within the new tier. The same rule applies to pet breeding, including cases where the Strong Genes perk is involved.

Exception to the exception

This rule does not apply to tiers with limited rarity options.

Horse Tiers 6 and 7 exist only in Epic rarity. Therefore, if two Tier 5 Epic horses produce a Tier 6 foal, it will also be Epic, as Tier 6 Epic is simply the next progression step after Tier 5 Epic.
